Why it matters for your home
This is a key point for your roof's watertightness and aesthetics. If the ridge is poorly done, water easily infiltrates the roof structure, causing damage. It must be solid to withstand winds and ensure good roof ventilation.

In our regions, the ridge is a critical point for waterproofing against torrential rains and for resistance to strong winds. It's often botched, with poorly made joints or improperly fastened ridge pieces, leading to leaks or wind damage.
Red flags
- ⚠ The ridge tiles or ridge cap are not securely fastened (they can be easily moved).
- ⚠ There are visible gaps or poorly sealed joints along the ridge.
- ⚠ The ridge is not perfectly straight or appears misaligned.
- ⚠ Infiltrations or traces of humidity are already visible under the ridge in the attic.

- 2. "What material will be used for the ridge and does it have good weather resistance?"
- 3. "Is ventilation planned at the ridge (if relevant for the type of roof)?"
