Software Engineer - Environmental Data Capacity (EDC) Toolkit at United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP)

The United Nations Environment Programme (UN Environment) is the leading global environmental authority that sets the world's environmental agenda, promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the United Nations system and serves as an authoritative advocate for the environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Support the design, development, and deployment of the WESR use cases, including the digital EDC Toolkit (Assessment Tool, Capacity Pathways and Policy Guide modules) on the WESR Knowledge Hub;

Contribute to front-end and back-end development of WESR tools and applications, including content modules, navigation, and user interface components;

Support testing, troubleshooting, and iterative refinement of digital tools based on user feedback and pilot implementation;

Contribute to technical documentation and knowledge transfer to support long-term internal maintenance of WESR tools. Engaging a Software Engineer (Consultant) for a three-month period will enable UNEP to maintain development momentum on the EDC Toolkit and WESR Knowledge Hub, supporting timely delivery of GEDS implementation milestones for 2026.
